The UP Beta Sigma Southern California Chapter was the primary sponsor of the medical mission that was held last March 10-11, 2007 in Milagros, Masbate at the Country Hospital. The hospital is headed by Brod Doctor Angel de Castro, Jr. This was the 1st Tito de Santos Medical Mission, named after our departed past GP of UP South, Brod Tito. The medical mission committee of the chapter was headed by Brod Frank Mamaril and Brod Nonoy Bautista represented the chapter in Masbate.

Medicines were from the HPIC (Health Partners International of Canada). This was made possible primarily due to the efforts of Brod Art de Vera of the Canada Chapter. Brod Art was also in charge of delivering the medicines to the Philippines, which he had done in all previous medical missions of the Federation.

Coordinated by Brod Jinggoy Solon were two other aspects of this medical mission: (1) a feeding program being worked on by Brod Ed Quisumbing and Brod Vic Ramos thru the Feed the Hungry and the National Nutrition Council of the Philippines, and (2) solicitation of medical supplies and equipment which was worked on by Brods Billy Sevilla, Roy Antonio, and other brods. The Federation is committed to coordinate three (3) more medical missions this year.

Brod Doctor Angel de Castro, Jr. whose community in Masbate was the focus of this medical mission, is a rare breed. He is a consistently dedicated Filipino who has a big heart for the most unfortunate of our brethren. Let us support him in his endeavor.
